Ecco Humor
2003

Ecco Humor is a fifty-meter long, six-meter high wall of undulating polished-stainless-steel forms. An underground parking lot outside the Dunkers Culture House in Helsingborg, Sweden, has been transformed into the world’s largest funhouse mirror. The parking garage represents one of the most depressing architectural sites in modern society, so the artists decided to turn the mirror against this dehumanized place and reconstruct it as a vibrant stage for physical interactions. After visitors have parked their cars in the garage, they must exit through this sculptural passage, where the mirrors reflect their movement in a disjointed sequence. Ecco Humor creates a distorted evolutionary trajectory that depicts humanity’s comical transition from ape to man and back again.
