Pep Talk
2003

Outside the public ice rink in Älta, a town east of Stockholm, stands a group of streetlights in an awkward formation. Like a team of hockey players in a huddle, the streetlights’ globes have been bent slightly downwards toward a mutual center. But instead of directing all their energy to the middle, like hockey players would do before facing off, the converging lights generate expansive radiance—a bright light that the visitors to the area can use for orientation on a dark night.
